La Chua Trail - Spring

Named from the Timucuan word for "sinkhole" and located in Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park, it leads to the Alachua Sink which serves as a critical drainage point for the prairie basin. Known today for its snail kite habitat and dense alligator population, the trail passes remnants of a large Spanish cattle ranch, including an old railroad trestle and concrete barn.
